We hope you've had a great first month of 2018! At Hiteks we've been busy prepping for: (1) an important study to measure physician productivity through the impact of our software used by Scribes with or without our Epic-integrated CAPD services, and (2) sponsoring the first quarterly event for the University of Utah's Biomedical Informatics Alumni in February. We describe both of these topics in this month's newsletter which we hope you enjoy and look forward to next month's topic where we will present Hiteks expansion into Clinical Documentation Templates to achieve maximum revenue cycle and reduce physician documentation time at the point of care. Dr. Gerry Petratos, CEO of Hiteks and University of Utah Department of Biomedical Informatics alumnus (Class of 2003) is scheduled to speak in February at IABtalks, the Department of Biomedical Informatics' Industry Advisory Board's quarterly forums to share ideas and promote professional opportunities and insights into the industry. The title of his topic ,"Healthcare Branding Using Lessons from a Critical Mom," draws from his life growing up in New York and subsequent experiences in Utah and Hiteks, which he founded in 2011. The talk will include Dr. Petratos' perspective on how to competitively differentiate a new IT product or service in healthcare through 5 lessons, starting with looking at standard practices and identifying novel features through a creative process which finds patterns and then determines how to use descriptive language from these patterns to establish a market advantage. This insight into the challenging areas of new medical informatics idea innovation, development and product launch include how to test and position an IT service and product to maximize user adoption and ROI. Our CEO's talk in Utah at the February 23rd IABtalks event will be recorded and Live Streamed and freely available for all to view. Don't miss Dr. Petratos' insights in his search for novelty!

Medical Scribes are everywhere. Their services certainly provide value, but they can suffer from high turnover and variability in the quality of the work product produced. So, at the request of several clients, Hiteks is investigating the use of Medical Scribes along with Hiteks' Artificial Intelligence and CAPD software: “What is the Impact of Medical Scribes on Physician Workflow and Documentation if they are provided real-time feedback on their notes in the EHR?” Hiteks will provide our Insight platform solutions Advocate MD and ConcurDI CAPD software powering Epic NoteReader and NoteReader CDI, respectively, at no charge, with implementation, training, and customer support services being included for the entire length of this study.
